Madrid is a young, dynamic and vibrant capital with a wide range of leisure activities, shopping and urban life. But this guided walk goes beyond the city’s well-known image of bars, nightlife and major shopping streets. Instead, it invites participants to discover Madrid from a more authentic, engaging and interactive perspective.

Throughout the tour, young participants also explore some of the most challenging aspects of contemporary urban life: drug trafficking and prostitution in central Madrid; neighbourhoods such as Chueca and Malasaña as centres of creativity, diversity and personal freedom, but also as symbols of gentrification and overtourism; and the difficulties young people face in Madrid’s housing and rental market.

The tour also includes practical information that is especially useful for students: where to eat well at reasonable prices, how to get around the city independently, where to shop, and how to find your way around Madrid during a school trip.

The aim of the tour is to help teenagers discover that Madrid is a young city, but not always an easy one for young people. It is a vibrant city full of energy and opportunities, yet one that also faces significant social and economic challenges. Along the way, participants are introduced to the key chapters of Madrid’s history while gaining a vivid, authentic and contemporary understanding of the city, ensuring that their experience of Madrid becomes much more than just a school trip.
